Disclaimer: If you are not attuned for Reiki symbols, then please do not try to look them up online or elsewhere. Simply omit the steps that invoke these symbols, in the following routine.
Best way to obtain the symbols is: proper attunement from a teacher/guide.
Reiki Daily Self Practice
Direction of our reiki (top to bottom or bottom to top) depends on our intention.
Root to Crown (or bottom to top) is best for grounding and energizing.
Crown to Root (or top to bottom) is best for calming, releasing.
As a thumb rule,
Morning/energy-building → Root → Crown
Evening/calm & grounding → Crown → Root
Sit in a comfortable position.
Say a brief prayer to Reiki energy.
Set the intention: I invite Reiki to flow for my highest good. May each chakra receive exactly what it needs, and be in a balanced state.

Chant cho ku rei three times.
Draw Sie he ki symbol in the air, by hands.

Do the grounding routine, by placing hands on thighs or knees, without energizing it, with a simple intention: I am grounded, safe, and energy is integrated within me.
Close out by saying thanks to Reiki.

Few tips and techniques for hand sensitivity
1. Slow, Gentle Scanning
-
Hover your hands a few inches above the chakra instead of placing them directly.
-
Move your hand slowly in small circles or side to side.
-
Notice subtle changes: temperature, tingling, resistance, or even a “magnetic push/pull” feeling.
2. Hand Sensitivity Practice
-
Rub your palms together briskly for 15–20 seconds, then hold them about 2–3 inches apart.
-
You may feel heat, tingling, or a ball-like sensation between them.
-
Use this same sensitivity when you place your hands over chakras.
- Try drawing the symbol in the air over the chakra, then placing your hands.
- Compare that with silently visualizing the symbol in your mind while your hands rest.
- You may notice one method amplifies your sensations more strongly than the other.
- As you breathe in, imagine drawing Reiki energy through your crown into your hands.
- As you breathe out, feel that energy flowing into the chakra.
- This can heighten your awareness of subtle temperature shifts.
